Nov 15th 2009 saw the close of the Irish Drag Championship at Bishopscourt. Congratulations go out to John Curistan of East Coast Customs who now wears the crown of Irish Drag Champion 2009 in the ECC Evo VII. Thanks to all involved including all the staff at ECC for their dedication and unwavering support : Adrian, Anne, Colin, Davy, John, Kevin, Robert, Stuart and last but not least Wayne.

Despite some minor transmission problems, John with his “Full Weight” ECC Evo VII consistently broke its personal record throughout the year. By the time the season closed, John had managed to trim the quarter mile time down from 11.071 to 10.040@141mph.

William McIlroy closely followed John all year in his R32
Skyline managing a 10.37sec ¼ mile on the last day of the season, an improvement from 11.461 following a custom fuel set-up and HKS re-map at East Coast.

Congratulations to Alan Ferguson also, in his ECC built 400/400 Impreza. Alan, despite living in Dublin, managed to compete in some of the Irish Drag events, with his best time being 11.660sec, down from 12.401sec.

Last of all, we would like to give a mention to Barry Toland in his ECC Civic Type R. He put down quick times throughout the year, his best being 13.79. Barry’s consistent times were good enough to give him 3rd in class 3, which is a great achievement.
